About the Counselors
Laura Reyes
Ms. Reyes is serving her fourth year at Anna Middle School and her 16th year in education. Prior to joining Anna ISD, Ms. Reyes was a counselor at Denison ISD for 9 years and Tulsa Public Schools for 3 years. Ms. Reyes has a Bachelor’s Degree from Boise State University and a Master’s Degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Ms. Reyes loves to spend time with her son Mateo and growing in her faith. She’s an avid runner and loves to run Half-Marathon’s.
Sandra Simons
Ms. Simons resides in Farmersville with her husband, mother-in-law, and two dogs. Ms. Simons enjoys spending time with her adult son, daughter-in-law to be, and two grandsons. Ms. Simons graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in Business Administration with a focus in Personnel Management. She worked at JCPenney's corporate office for several years as an inventory analyst. After being laid off, she decided to pursue her dream of becoming a teacher and received her alternative certification through Region 10. She began teaching in Garland ISD at North Garland High School as an English STAAR prep teacher. The last four years, she taught in Princeton ISD at Princeton High School and Lovelady High School as a Freshman English teacher. In 2020, Ms. Simons decided to get her Master of Science in Professional School Counseling and that is what has led her to Anna Middle School. Ms. Simons is excited to begin her first year as a school counselor in Anna ISD!
Kristi Heath
Ms. Heath is serving her sixth year as an Intervention Counselor at Anna ISD and her fifth year at Anna Middle School. Ms. Heath has worked with children of all ages in various settings, such as after school programs and emergency housing facilities. Ms. Heath graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University earning a Bachelor of Arts degree with an educational focus in Psychology and Sociology. She then obtained a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is a National Board Certified Counselor and is currently working towards obtaining her Licensed Professional Counselor credit through post-graduate work. Ms. Heath is enthusiastic about working with students in developing a path to their authentic self.
